MV Undersea Hunter has embarked on a trip to Cocos Island with a team of tech divers and researchers from the marine-based biotechnology company Pharmamar. The team will be doing deep dives to sample and study the macro-organisms, especially sponges. Their goal is to discover organisms that will support the discovery of innovative drugs with anti-tumor activity.
In addition to all the technical diving gear (rebreathers, bailout tanks, and booster pumps), the vessel is also bringing 2 skiffs, 1 laboratory, and even a small gym. The gym will be used by the tech divers to help them stay in top shape. The trip will span February 5th to February 26th 2013. All of us at Undersea Hunter Group feel truly honored to be the chosen platform for such an incredible expedition. We wish them the best of luck on their trip and we will update you on the results and finding of their research as soon as we can.
