One of the absolute highlights of this trip took place on our very first day, when we encountered a BAITBALL!! The action was close to Maneulita, and packed with dolphins, hunting tuna, Galapagos, silvertip and silky sharks. Simply unforgettable. And let’s not forget the shark sightings in Manuelita Outside and Ulloa!
Now for the rest of the trip highlights:
Overall we had some of our best dives at Dirty Rock and around Manuelita Island this week. There were large quantities of hammerheads as well as a very close encounter with a tiger shark at about 35m at Dirty Rock! We discovered quite a bit of current at Alcyone, and a huge school of jacks at Manuelita Outside (as well as schooling hammerheads). A Galapagos shark cruised the coral garden, circling the zone as if it were sniffing out prey to hunt.

Diving Cocos Island, Costa Rica is always full of surprises!

Our group this week was mostly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The crossings were a bit choppier than usual at times due to some offshore weather, but it was nothing we couldn’t handle. It just added to the adventure!
