© copyright by We’re just back from another incredible trip to Cocos with so many sharks!! Hammerheads, Galapagos, lots of blacktips and huge silvertips that came in so close. The giant manta rays and the whale shark at Small Dos Amigos was the icing on the cake. On one of our favorite dives at Punta Maria we encountered a large adult silvertip, 2 Galapagos sharks, 2 dolphins and about two dozen whitetip reef sharks! Afternoon dives at Pajara were lovely, with Galapagos sharks, eels and at one point 3 mantis shrimp. Small Dos Amigos has been so hot lately! It was full of hammerheads and Galapagos sharks (at times, over 10 Galapagos at a time!). The whale shark we saw there was more or less 8 meters long. We saw large schools of hammerheads (around 80+ individuals) gathering on the left side of the rock and also 3 schools of 100+ out in the blue. We had two encounters with manta rays. At Alcyone we came face to face with blacktips, Galapagos sharks and 3 octopuses as well as countless hammerheads. Most of our tiger shark encounters took place around Manuelita Island. In the channel we saw two on one dive, and in the Coral Garden we had many hammerheads along the sandy bottom plus a giant manta.
"Getting up close and personal with hammerheads, Galapagos and blacktip sharks does not get much better… Oh wait, don't forget about the manta ray gliding close overhead and the turtle....and then there is the deep sub dive down the Wall. Absolutely wonderful…Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and a thoroughly relaxing trip. Made to feel at home......without having to do the chores!" –Ian Sheard
