Happy holidays everyone!

The DeepSee just came back from her last trip of 2018! We are going to use this last trip report to conclude this amazing year we had:

In 2018, the DeepSee completed 226 dives, hosting 452 passengers from the Argo, Sea Hunter, Okeanos and some private yachts. During the year we dove mostly at Cocos Island, but also at the Bat Islands (just off the northwest tip of Costa Rica’s mainland) and Malpelo, Colombia.

Apart from the enthusiast divers of Cocos Island, the DeepSee was proud to host all kinds of scientific and film-making crew: National Geographic’s Pristine Seas, Ocean School, the Economist, Fins Attached, the University of Costa Rica, etc.
It was a year of many mobula rays, jellynose fish, hammerheads, silky sharks, ragged-tooth sharks and prickly sharks. Plus jellyfish of all sorts, spider and king crabs, scorpionfish, frogfish, batfish and goosefish.

All in all, we had an amazingly successful year with loads of exciting sighting and discoveries and we’re counting on the following year to exceed that.

The DeepSee will go on her annual maintenance period and on March 2019 will go for a National Geographic trip to the Golfo Dulce in the south of Costa Rica. We can’t wait to come back again to Cocos island, to see what 2019 have in store for us…

Happy new year and see you all on board soon…

The pilots.
