What a fantastic trip to wrap up an amazing year!

The DeepSee dived 11 times this trip, hosting immersions with Professor Jorge Cortez from the university of Costa Rica, making transacts and collecting samples with the DeepSee’s robotic arm. We also took passengers from the Asteria private yacht, who had children aged 4 and 6 years old (our youngest yet!), and of course passengers from the Argo.

We had beautiful dives at the Everest dive site, our “shallow” dive site to 100m/330ft, with crystal clear visibility and encounters of huge schools of mullet snappers, bigeye jacks, hammerhead schools and some tiger sharks.

On our descents to our deep dive sites to the Wall (300m/1000ft) we had exciting encounters in the blue with mobula rays, silky sharks and dolphins. We’ve encounter various habitats for jellynose fish ranging from 10 to 20 individuals all in one spot, some swimming very close around the sub’s passengers’ cabin. We even had our first ever observation of a jellynose swallowing a scorpionfish!

Coming back from the wall to the rocks at 170m/570ft, we were welcomed by groupers attaching their noses on the acrylic window for a closer look. Frogfish, scorpionfish, king & decorated crabs, brotulas and moray eels were also abundant and very active, giving a great final note to end a great dive.

All in all, this was a great trip to finish off an amazing year. We only hope the 2020 will top this year with great new discoveries and with new family members of the elite deep-sea explorer team.

We can’t wait for 2020 to start already!

See ya’ all next year

The Pilots.
