We’ve returned from a wonderful expedition to Cocos Island! The voyage was full of everything -- beautiful and entusiastic people that came with us deep down on the DeepSee sub and experienced downright amazing marine life on each and every dive!
Each immersion was spectacular, with large gatherings of fish wherever we went. Highlights included schools of hammerheads, jacks, and mullet snappers at the Everest (our “shallow” dive 100 meters), who weren’t afraid to come up close to say hello.
Our deeper dives to 300 meters were equally exciting, with mobula rays tracking us all the way down and also joining us at the surface. The wall was full of life, and there we had encounters with octopuses, goosefish, jellynose fish, spider crabs and big groupers. On the rock formation we saw lots of female king crabs waiting for their mates to arrive, and we also encountered frogfish, scorpionfish, brotulas and eels all over the rock!
Being at these incredible depths with our guests and witnessing these awe-inspiring creatures up close and person is what keeps us coming back to Cocos Island again and again with the DeepSee.
